Find Love
04:20
|
|||
I’m going to get better at what I do
Going to remember who I am
Going to take the time to find myself
Open up my heart and take a stand
Going to find the beauty in this world
Give until my life fits like a glove
The wind is going to fill my sails
And I’ll find love
Let’s take a walk down by the slough
Your tender kisses make me sigh
I want to be holding hands with you
Underneath the moon on your lanai
Tonight we’ll hit the Blasé Cafe
Dance all night beneath the stars above
I’ll look deep into your eyes
And I’ll find love
I’ll find love
Because I see you as you are
And I remember who I am
Thank you for the feel of your skin
Thank you for the way you rub my back
Thank you for the way you tuck me in
Thank you for the way you don’t hold back
Thank you for your message in the wind
Got to tell the world what I’m thinking of
I have finally found my home
I found love

Scale That Wall
04:28
|
|||
Sometimes I want to forget all I know about romance and being a fool
Sometimes I want to go down to Palm Springs and sleep face down in your pool
Sometimes it seems illusions and dreams
Have something to do with it all
Some of the time living seems all about trying to scale that wall
Scale that wall I can tell you I’ve never been lucky skinny or tall
I know that as far back as I can recall
I’ve been trying to get over that wall
All in all you can see that I've never been lucky skinny or tall
Even though I’m afraid I may fail or I may fall
I’m climbing that wall
One of my friends gave me wishes to stand on and maybes to keep me around
But maybes and wishes don’t wash many dishes so I had to get out of town
Friend number two gave me things that she knew
I could use to get over that wall
She said have a good time be kind and you’ll find that wall is no problem at all
Someone else said it’s all in your head who needs the aggravation
The check’s in the mail take the bull by the tail and face the situation
As for you Dr. Seuss I have no excuse
For this mixed metaphorical mess
But a toast is in order cuz you taught me to rhyme sorta
Here’s looking up your old address
Scale that wall I can tell you I’ve never been lucky skinny or tall
I know that as far back as I can recall
I’ve been trying to get over that wall
That’s not all after all these years I’m still not skinny or tall
Even though I’m afraid I may fail or I may fall
I’m climbing that wall
Even though we’re afraid we may fail or we may fall
We’re climbing that wall

Waiting
04:06
|
|||
I’ve been waiting since yesterday
For some sign of life from you
I’ve been hoping that you’ll come through
With the things you said you’d do
I wore a hole in the carpet pacing
Trying to figure out why I’m always waiting
For the phone to ring-and the meet-up
But I’m beat up by the screaming silence in my room
I’ve got this constant ringing in my ears
Maybe it’s the 80’s all the blues and the beers
Or maybe it’s just wishful thinking
Hoping that my phone will ring
I took a walk in the afternoon
Tried to convince myself that constant change is here to stay
But now I’m back it’s just me and the phone
Waiting since yesterday
Don’t make promises you can’t keep
It rolls off your tongue and you’re standing knee-deep in it
All those times and dimes I wasted trying to get to you
Trying to get to you
I’m through waiting for you
All this time I thought you were kidding
Now I’m taking another long walk weather permitting
And the creek don’t rise cuz it’s raining like hail
Pounding on my rooftop like a hammer on a pail
Maybe I’ll take that gig in Beijing
See how many stones make up the Great Wall of China
Or maybe I’ll just wake up to the break-up words I never heard from you
I never heard from you

Yesterday's News
04:35
|
|||
When I first met you you came on to me
Now you’re hittin’ on my friends and these blues won’t let me be
I feel like yesterday’s news
Yesterday’s news
Any way I look at it I lose
Feel like yesterday’s news
When we’re out having coffee and my boys show up
There ain’t enough cream and sugar to fill your coffee cup
I feel like yesterday’s news
Yesterday’s news
Just how much cream and sugar can you use
Feel like yesterday’s news
Ain’t nothin’ new here you’ve heard it all before
She got two trains on one track
And she thinks she needs one more
You know I’m no conductor
I ain’t no engineer
That makes me the brakeman
I’m gonna tap it twice
And ease on outta here
Ain’t nothin’ new here you’ve heard it all before
She got two trains on one track and she thinks she needs one more
You may think it’s funny baby but I’m really not amused
You just messed up your good thing
And it’s you who’s gonna lose
So put your arms around me tell me how much you care
And try to convince me there’s enough of you to share
You’re yesterday’s news
Yesterday’s news
That’s just some stuff that I can’t use
You are yesterday’s news

Almost Home
06:15
|
|||
Tahoe was a promise that we made to the sky
Knowing we’d be back someday
Singing you’ve got to reach a little bit higher
High above the island in the bay
Howling up the highway to Mt. Rose to touch the snow
Our hearts were full of traveling and each other
Standing on the windward side and gazing far below
The lights of Reno called to us and we felt very small
Alone but bound together brother and brother
Brother and brother
Almost home almost home
Moving to the music that we’ve always known
Every time we feel like we’re finally not alone
We’re almost home
Sometimes when it’s quiet and October’s coming on
Michigan seems right outside my door
And when the fog sits heavy I swear I hear the sound
Of bagpipes ringing out across the moor
I remember summertime back in Florida
Standing on the Million Dollar Pier
Bar-B-Q’s football and Dad bending our ears
Soft and balmy evenings crickets everywhere
Many is the time you know I thought I’d like to go back there
I want to go back there
I remember high school in Virginia
You and me by Little Hunting Creek
Walking home holding hands
And too in love to speak
Snow in Alexandria
We’re sledding Fort Hunt hill
I’m walking in the woods with you
And everything is very still
Time is standing still
